It's hard to say if you need counseling, new friends, a part-time non-writing job, a new connection with God or the universe or more dark chocolate!

Depression can be caused by many things. Sometimes it's in the background but doesn't come out until something triggers it - like a friend moving away. Sometimes it's just wonky brain chemicals. A good counselor will help you figure out the cause so you can find the best treatment.
-
Finding a good counselor - or any doctor, massage therapist, plumber, etc - sometimes requires shopping around a little. Chemistry matters ALOT in that relationship because if you don't connect, then the work is harder. You can still get good help if you don't really like your counselor, but boy it helps if you connect. Like the Good Will Hunting show: Will turfed the first few therapists because they didn't get him.

It sounds like you're working on part of the problem by making new friends and finding a writing coworker. I meant it when I suggested a part-time job -- getting away from writing will help pay the bills and isolate you alot less. I'd also consider taking community education or writing courses, or signing up for yoga or pilates or a hiking group.
