I recently heard that Dove soap was forced to censor some magazine advertisements they had planned due to the fact they featured nude middle aged women. Their idea was that middle aged women needed to be able to have good feelings about their bodies and, so, their new ad campaign would zero in on them as a targeted market.

They state that Dove is sexualizing women as a commercial tool and exposing children inappropriate nudity. It's using female nudity to sell products - what's the difference if it's an older or younger woman?

Dove states the campaign isn't about nudity. It's about honesty and celebrating women for who they are - because they're beautiful just as they are."

I don't know if kids are being exposed to "inappropriate nudity" with Dove -- doesn't that happen already?

I wonder what the general consensus is on these older models. Are people glad they're out there, or grossed out? (no offense.) After seeing images of perfection for decades, are we too jaded to see a "real" woman?
