Hey Pink...we'll have to get you learning Strine with an Aussie accent. ABC. You are the ones with a strange "English" accent and stranger or lesser sense of humour. Crikey, we even personalise things more. We put U in your 'humor' and hono(u)r and even have to re-jig our iconic TV show 'Kath & Kim' so you'll have some chance of understanding it for its US-release. happy

I'm not saying! When I stated:
"Our democracy is better than yours where we get more say on matters that matter??!! Ours aint perfect either!"

the ??!! surely showed it was primarily an incredulous question.

The only extra thing going for us if your tough views reflect mainstream USA, is like Canada, we are more relaxed about it all and if any need for healing it's possibly with our Aboriginal brothers and sisters we don't routinely come across...not who we are or what's happening to us as a nation.

BUT the US media's sole interest in doom and gloom may not be a true reflection of the US psyche. You do know our life has far more happy stories than will ever grace the pages of papers you and I read.

OZ has a Westminster system of government, hisorically based on issues flowing methodically to a non-elected, upper class House of Lords. Its attitudes, processes or ethics are steeped in English tradition of laws. Almost all the upper legal formailites of it have been dismantled but the ties are resistant to cutting.

We are in a limbo-land IMO. Until we get rid of the need for a Governor-General...and that means the formal acceptance of whatever form of republic, creation of 'President' of whatever powers, mummy Liz from the House of Windsor still us in her claws.

The royal majority "we" here are supposedly in love with Mrs Windsor, still. The monarchists won the last referendum on the issue. Aaarrgghh!

In the circles I travel in and as far as I can recall, I have always been an Aussie and would never have sought a passport while I was required to gain a British one. But she looks like my late mum, so can't be all bad.

As an aside...this "bunny trail" thing. The way I interpret it, a bunny digs a hole and comes up anywhere and everywhere if given the chance. That's a bunny warren. But a bunny trail is distinguishable by its poop pellets. ABC
