I send Valentines without fear or favour far closer to the date if posting by snail mail..otherwise on the actual date. See, this is where I need to always re-read posts by those from the USA. Posters always telling me what they're not saying. ABC
Valentine's Day was one of the holy days for my dear late wife. Nowadays, like Christmas etc where everyone is eligible to get a card, it seems to have lost much of its aura.

I am so confused!
How do people tell what they're not saying, pink and redback? And, what's ABC, redback?
And, how did this arise in the first place? Funny how discussions go...
ALOT of life loses its aura. Christmas, birthdays, new year's eve -- I think it's a function of getting older and less exhilarated by these holidays.
Let's face it, time jades us.

Hi Laurie. Away back, I expressed my boredom with 'lol' etc by introducing 'ABC' to the mix of TLAs here. And tis interesting to see its continued use during my non-posting breaks. The substance of my comments instantly fades whereas 'ABC' et al lingers. TIC (Tongue-in-cheek)
ABC = 'A Big Chuckle' clearly denoting a light-hearted comment from me. (TLA = three letter acronym.)
Me, I try to avoid the routine celebration card. For the birth of a baby, I send the birthday card direct to the baby. For other types, I send motivational cards for birthdays and bereavement etc. I spend effort on the gift.
"I'm not saying" that Pink directly sent you a Valentine's Day card then later denied it was intended for you. I'm not saying his wife may have wondered what he was doing.
Other topics got bogged down in how we were reading what other people were saying. It got easier when the comment was prefaced by "I'm not saying..." because then I definitely knew I didn't know what they WERE saying. My excuse remains I don't speak your language. ![]()
"time jades us" kinda shifts our accountability, doesn't it? In ancient times, the Christians took Valentines Day from pagans and the Pope took it off his books in 1969. Nowadays, I was thinking capitalism et al takes the shine off it...not my developing jade.

Hi Pink. This "I'm not saying..." theme. Against my better judgement, I popped in on one of the other topics to see "I'm not saying..." in full swing in reaction to one of your posts. It rated an ABC x 2 from me.
But Laurie's topic is instead about endless love and such things. Like the ancient entwined skeletons recently found. Now, that's a couple that knew how to stay together!
I'm assuming it made the news in your wintry part of the world (while we bask in summer).

Today, the joke about it...a cartoon. He asks: "Will you marry me?" She replies: "It only took you 5,000 years!"

Wow! What an amazing photograph and story - and so sad that the skeletons of women were found holding their babies.
Ah, back in the day when lovers were truly faithful....
