» Feature Writer Laurie Pawlik-Kienlen - are you ready for it?

I've been "off" for almost 2 weeks, visiting friends and family out of town. I can't wait to get back into the routine at home! It was great to see everyone, but boy do I miss my routine.

Anyone out there feel the same way - are you glad that the holidays are over?

Heh heh.
.
It does seem that holidays bring out the extremes of happiness and its oppositions.
.
There are also many memories one can bring to the surface--happy and otherwise. I'm learning the importance of focusing on the happy things.
.
Are you one of those work-a-holics?
.
:)
.
Have you ever heard this song?
You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

(To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark)

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?

(Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive)
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right

(You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between)

You've got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum
Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (what did they say)
Say when everything looked so dark

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No! Don't mess with Mister In-Between

Interesting that you asked that - my husband calls me a write-a-holic because all I want to do is write! It's my passion, my dream. Does that make me addicted?

In my mind, it makes you a person who is involved in the process of self discovery.
.
And, I say, good for youl.

I do love the holidays. But Yes!! I love getting back to my routine. I'm eager to finish what I put off until 'after the holidays'. Loose ends bother me, and so does holiday 'clutter'.

To say that someone is addicted implies something negative, doesn't it? I'd say you are one of the fortunate people who has found someone who has found the thing that they are meant to do.

It's you.

And, some others I know.

Self discovery. That's where we say, "That's the ticket."
.
Think of all the teachings that work to denigrate the idea of the self--that teach the self is to be suppressed at all costs.

That's my favorite topic in the whole world: being yourself, being authentic (not suppressing your self!).

How is self-suppression taught? By socializing kids to behave themselves, not make waves, color inside the lines?
