Rhonda Byrne's bestselling book The Secret is popular because it works! Once you understand the Law of Attraction, it's easy to apply to daily life & achieve your goals.
Oprah Winfrey recently revealed the Law of Attraction and Rhonda Byrne's bestselling book The Secret. Then, Oprah then did a follow up show a week later to describe certain aspects of The Secret. The Law of Attraction is making waves in North America -- possibly because of the truth underlying the theory of positive energy.
The Law of Attraction holds that we attract things into our lives based on our thoughts, feelings, and actions. But how does the Secret work in everyday life, and when we're achieving our goals?
How The Law of Attraction Works in Everyday Life
After applying the Law of Attraction to your life, you may notice immediate effects – or you may not. For instance, some people learn about The Secret Law of Attraction one day, go to work the next (of course emitting their positive energy and thoughts), and voila! they get a promotion, corner office, or both. Instanct success!
Others attempt to apply the Law of Attraction by taking positive actions such as accepting extra projects at work, going in early and staying late, and always being available to the boss. Yet nothing good happens: no raise, no corner office, and a "sorry, but no" answer to a request for some time off.
They may think the Law of Attraction doesn't work. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Maybe these people weren't emitting positive energy.
1) Are you really putting out "positive energy"? For instance, accepting extra work and working longer hours may not be positive energy according to the Law of Attraction. Your actions may appear conducive to getting that raise, but your thoughts and emotions may be screaming, I don't want to do this but I'll do it anyway because it's positive action in the direction of my goals! That's where The Secret comes in.
If your attitude, thoughts, and motivations aren't all lined up in the same direction, then you're not applying The Secret Law of Attraction. You're just forcing yourself in one direction – and it may not be the direction for you. It's not positive energy, and it's not the Law of Attraction.
2) Give the Law of Attraction time to manifest itself. Oprah's success didn't happen overnight – no success does no matter how much positive energy you put out. Oprah's success may seem like it happened quickly, but success takes years or even decades. North America is a fast-paced society (Homer says, "45 seconds?! But I want it now!!") and we like things right here, right now. The Secret Law of Attraction doesn't work that way.
Some things take longer than you'd like – especially if they're Big. Getting that promotion, fixing your relationship, raising well-behaved children, losing weight – it all takes time. Remember that when you're learning how the Law of Attraction and The Secret works.
3) Be open to new ideas about positive energy! Maybe you didn't get that raise or corner office, maybe because it wasn’t "yours" to begin with. Maybe it would have disrupted your family life. It doesn't matter – if you didn't get it, according to the Secret Law of Attraction there's a reason. So don't be afraid to take new opportunities. Stop to consider new ideas, new directions, new paths -- and other types of energy healing.
If you don't get what you want, decide if it's really what you want. The Secret Law of Attraction holds that you attract your deepest desires.

The problem with this concept is that it bases reality on thought. I
suspect you would be hard-pressed to find any scientist who could confirm
that the rules of our reality really care what you think one way or ther
other. I may think there for I am, but how much I think I can avoid
gravity, I am going to die if I jump off a 20 story building roof.
While I do believe in Karma and spiritual results from your thoughts and
actions, this theory is flawed because it only deals with positive
outcomes. What about the dark side. I just got hit by a car, did I
manifest or think I should get hit? Did the baby who was abused call this
upon themselves because they thought it? Did they attract it? What about
the person who was raped or murdered? Did Rwanda attract mass genocide?
No of course not.
Your words and actions do come from what you
think, but not all of what you think. You have outside forces on you as
well. You may want riches but if you were born in a slum in Bangledesh,
your chances are slim! Also what you think is not always correct, good, or
positive. Thankfully the world continues to spin with or without your
thoughts.

One of the most challenging aspects of applying the Law of Attraction, and
the 3 steps (Ask, Believe, Receive) of The Secret, is to stay positive.
For example, if you want things to improve, because you are now in the
dumps, it is very tough to maintain a positive mind.. For instance, if you
just lost your job or your other half, it's not easy to suddently become
happy and positive again..
But then again, I guess this is why
it's no walk in the park to truly and accurately apply the 3 step process
and to invoke the Law of Attraction. Any thoughts??

I'm okay with staying positive and believing that what I want (eg, getting
a book contract and becoming a published author) will come true.........but
I wonder about other aspects of the law of attraction.
For
instance, what about when you never dreamed something could happen, and it
does? Eg, I used to think I'd never go to university...but now I have two
degrees.
And, what if two people are using the secret or the law
of attraction to achieve the same goal - such as marrying a particular
woman, or winning a particular job - but only one of them achieves what
they want? Was one of them not using the secret properly?

I didn't understand why some things just happen to 'innocent' people with
no reason. But now I know that the Law of Attraction applies mainly to what
you are focused on. Thus, even if you wish sth could happen but at the back
of your mind there is still that negative thought, just a small image of an
undesirable situation, the unwanted is created.
When it comes
to little kids, we do not really understand how they think and what they
think about because they cannot communicate through language. And another
thing is that parents might be the initial creators in children's lives
till they start using their own thinking processes.

I didn't think The Secret work until I saw it happen myself. I am a day
dreamer. I am always thinking and dreaming about, "what would it be
if..." and so on. And things I used to think, long before discovering
the secret, are happening now. I remember once I used to wonder what my ex
would do if instead of him, it'd been his brother I was with. Oh, that was
not a good experience thought. And then I began testing the Law of
Attraction in little things. Sometimes it might look like it doesn't work,
but it does. It takes months, years, sometimes only weeks. This is an
amazing thing we should all use. It is unique and I love the secret.

Thanks for your thoughts on The Secret! I'm still learning how the Law of
Attraction works, and I appreciate the input.

The law of attraction is truly amazing, and quite true. What people need to
remeber is that the law of attracton is neutral, the law of attraction does
not know what is good and what is bad,it does not tell the difference
betwen them. What it does is give you what you have been focusing on. And
since most people focus on what they dont want in life like,"I dont
want to get late, I dont want to get laughed at, I dont want to lose my
job...." That is why many people attract so much bad stuff because
they are attracting negativity. We should all learn to be able to apply the
law of attraction in a positive way. :=)
