Oprah Reveals The Secret Law of Attraction
The day before Rhonda Byrne aired The Secret on Oprah, I thought she was going to reveal the newest most exciting thing ever! Indeed, Oprah was irresistable: “It’s the secret to creating the life you truly want. Make more money, lose weight, fall in love, land your dream job...” I was thrilled that I’d be able to catch the Secret on the Oprah show (I don’t often get to watch it). The Secret would be revealed, and my dreams would come true! My books will be published, my womb full of baby, my friends loving, attentive, and completely into me and only me.
So when Oprah revealed that The Secret is the Law of Attraction, I was a little disappointed. It’s been out for ages – the Law of Attraction has been repackaged and resold. Maybe King Solomon was right, maybe there really is nothing new under the sun.
The Secret Law of Attraction: Lovin' That Law
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not slagging the Secret Law of Attraction. I love the Law of Attraction! I love knowing that we do have the power to create or destroy our lives, that we attract people and events into our lives based on what we’re thinking and feeling. I love that positive energy flows where attention goes, and that we can place cosmic orders that bring us what we ask for – whether good or bad.
The Secret Law of Attraction: What About Chronic Bad Luck?
However, I’ve always wondered about people who just can’t seem to get a break no matter how hard they try. Have you met someone like that......or are you that person? It’s never ending: fights with family, lost wallets or purses, consistent health problems, struggles with money and debt and jobs. According to The Secret Law of Attraction, they’re sending out energy that’s attracting these problems.
The Secret Law of Attraction: Questions
The Secret Law of Attraction states that if you send out positive energy and create vision boards, you'll get what you want through energy flow. But what if five people are focused on getting the same job, grant money, or man? What if they’re all sending out optimistic vibes, good thoughts, and positive energy? Someone’s gonna miss out, I would think.
The Secret Law of Attraction doesn't explain accidents like car crashes. And what about diseases like cancer or MS? Crimes like rape or assault? If there really are no coincidences like Oprah says, how do those events fit in?
