Making time for yourself will create emotional, physical, and mental health, especially during stressful holiday seasons. Here are 15 ways to make more time.

Finding more time in your day will relax your body, ease your mind, and free your soul. If you have a moment, check out these 15 ways to make time for yourself. If you don’t have a minute to spare, then you really need to read this article!

These tips are especially important during stressful holiday seasons, such as Christmas or Easter. Not every one of the 15 ways to make more time for yourself will work for you, but you’re bound to find at least two or three that do.

Making time for yourself takes discipline, planning, and self-confidence. Try these tips for at least a month before you decide whether or not they work for you. Stand up to your family, coworkers and friends, who might not understand why you need time for yourself.

10 Ways to Make More Time For Yourself

  1. Stop watching TV, or limit it to one hour a day. Or unplug it, put it away for a month, and make time to do the things you want.
  2. Get up an hour earlier in the morning to make more time for yourself. Since you’re watching less TV, go to bed an hour earlier at night. You’ll be refreshed and well-rested during the day.
  3. Schedule time for yourself in your daytimer. For instance, mark 4:30-5:30 pm as your time – and use it to accomplish your goals. Make more time in your day by scheduling it in.
  4. Skip your lunch break, leave work an hour earlier, and use the time to write your novel, carve that wood, or pursue your fitness goals. Finding more time in your day is easier when you have a flexible work schedule.
  5. Use your commute to read, make lists, make phone calls, and plan ahead. Make more time by multi-tasking during "easy" activities.
  6. Make fewer social phone calls during the day or evening, especially if you’re calling “just to talk” (unless of course you need more time to talk on the phone!). Make more time by reducing unnecessary conversations.
  7. Cut back on the chores at home. Let your house get dirty while you pursue your goals, or pay a housecleaner to come in once a week.
  8. Find ways to simplify your life. For instance, buy fewer clothes so you have fewer clothes to wash, dry clean, iron, and store for the winter. Making more time includes cutting back on materialism.
  9. Prioritize your activities to make more time for yourself. Choose activities important to you, and learn to say no without feeling guilty to time-wasters.
  10. Plan ahead and make lists so you don’t waste time running to the store for meal ingredients or toilet paper. Finding more time in your day requires organization, which quickly becomes habit.
