You can achieve your goals in life with these six success strategies. Plus, these expert strategies for personal success are fun & easy to implement.

Achieving your goals in life involves a bit of luck, but mostly it takes diligence and motivation. A few tips for personal success won't hurt, either! These success strategies are more fun than you might think.

These tips on achieving your goals in life are based on Marc Myers' book How to Make Luck: 7 Secrets Lucky People Use to Succeed. His focus was on creating your own luck.

Achieving Your Goals in Life: Expert Strategies for Personal Success

  1. Learn to laugh off life's ambushes. Did you trip and fall on your face in front of your colleagues? Drink too much at the wine and cheese event? Shrug it off with a chuckle. Share your embarrassment – if you really are embarrassed – but don't obsess or complain about it. It happened. It's over. Moving on is one way to achieve your goals in life.
  2. Make believe your mistakes are only a "five-second blip." You're the only one who remembers and agonizes about your mistakes (unless you've surrounded yourself with people who dwell on your blunders). Constantly tell yourself life isn't perfect – and neither are you. Acheiving your goals in life means you must admit your mistakes, learn from them, and forge forward.
  3. Prepare for situations that make you nervous. If you're anxious about making the presentation, then review it until you're comfortable. If you're nervous that the blind date will flop, arm yourself with ways to make small talk – and go into the date intending to have a good time whether sparks fly or not. Acheiving your goals in life is about being prepared.
  4. Don't stop believing. Be patient, and the planets will align and your dreams will come true. "Be careful what you wish for; you might get it" is a cliché because it's true. Once you figure out what your personal goals, align your thoughts and actions in that direction, and keep striving for success – you can't NOT get what you want! Achieving your goals in life means cultivating self-confidence.
  5. Get a kick out of being you. I LOVE this tip because being authentic is one of my favorite subjects. Myers states that being comfortable with yourself makes other people comfortable, which improves your chances of acheiving your goals in life. The more relaxed people feel around you, the more they'll help you get what you want. Tap into your true self, beliefs, opinions, dreams and personal goals. Share yourself with other people – honestly, gently, courageously. The more authentic you are, the more likely you'll achieve your goals in life.
  6. Make other people feel great. To achieve your goals in life, realize the impact you have on people and their lives. The more you make others feel great, the more likely they'll support and encourage you. The more positive they feel around you, the more likely they are to bring out the best in you and themselves. Making them feel great will make you feel great! It's the positive energy in the law of attraction: sending out those positive vibes will bring good stuff back to you, like personal goals achieved.
